9 months old and some updates…

Jane had her 9 month check up last week and she did great!  She’s growing up so fast :(   Overall, she’s healthy and growing just like she should.  Here are her stats:

Weight:  18 lbs. (40th percentile)

Height:  28 1/8 inches (70th percentile)

She had her finger pricked to check her iron and she didn’t like that too much.  When we got home, Carter saw Jane’s band-aid and wanted a “sticker” on his finger too, so they had matching band-aids for that day :)

Jane has a tooth now (lower right side)!  It’s been slowly poking it’s way through during the past week, so she’s been a little cranky.  But overall, she’s still the happiest baby I’ve ever met!

Aunts Claudia and Cindy came down to visit last week!  This was Jane’s first time meeting her great aunts.  We had a great time with them and they even watched all the kids (Carter, Evie, and Jane) so Kim and I could spend a day together without the kids.  Thanks, guys!  Carter also got to meet his “birthday buddy”, cousin Darren who shares his birthday!  He brought Carter some trains, so Carter was very excited to meet him :)

That’s all the updates I have for now.  Here are some random pictures that have been taken over the past few weeks:

Summer Fun

Today, we joined Kim and Evie at their neighborhood pool!  Ghee Ghee also met us there.  This marked the first time Jane has ever been swimming, and let me tell you…she LOVED it.  She splashed, kicked, and giggled the entire time.  Carter also had a great time playing with some water guns that Evie shared with him and inching along the pool wall to “the itsy bitsy spider” just like he did in his swim lessons.  We all had a great time and look forward to many more trips to the pool this summer.

Huge Update

Hey Everyone, sorry its been so long since I’ve posted on here.  We had a few issues with the site, but I think it’s all been fixed now :)   A lot has happened over the past few months, so I’ll try to remember as much as I can.

I’ll start with Carter first:

  • I’ve been taking him to some free summer movies with Kim and Evie.  Its really been a lot of fun and the kids really do enjoy it.  They make it through all of the movies and they love sitting with eachother and sharing snacks.  We got to see his absolute favorite movie “Polar Express” on the big screen too.  Jeremy and I took him to see “Toy Story 3″ and he especially liked that movie.  He loves that those characters are on his pull-ups :)
  • Speaking of pull-ups, Carter’s potty training is going well.  He asks to go pee-pee on the potty most times, but still has accidents throughout the day.  He has gone poop on the potty only once, but at least that’s a start!  He is really good about asking to go while we’re out and about.  I think he likes checking out the different potties.
  • He is continuing to say new things everyday and some of it cracks me up.  He says things like “oh, how wonderful!” and “oh dear” that make him sound like an old soul.  He is such a funny little guy and loves making people laugh.
  • He had his first ever boat ride on the 4th of July.  Uncle Chuck took us all out on the boat at Lake Oconee and Carter LOVED it.  I mean he really really enjoyed it.  He kept saying “mommy, mommy, we’re on a boat!!!” He wouldn’t stop talking about the boat for days afterwards.
  • His favorite person in the world is his baby sister.  He loves her to pieces and never gives up an opportunity to give her a goodnight hug and kiss.  He sings to her and plays patty-cake with her too.  I love seeing my babies get along so well.

Now for Jane:

  • Jane is crawling!  She began crawling at 7 months.  She is doing the “up on all fours” crawling instead of the army crawl that Carter did.  She’s fast and very curious, so it’s been fun watching her go!
  • She sits up really well unsupported and is now sitting in high chairs when we go out to eat.
  • She still doesn’t have any teeth yet…maybe we’ll have one in another month or so.
  • She is looking like she wants to start pulling up on things now.  She’s really strong, but her hips aren’t quite steady enough for standing on her own yet.
  • She’s sleeping from 6:30pm-7:00am and is taking two naps during the day.
  • She has tried every kind of baby food out there and she loves it all.  This girl loves food and trying new things.
  • Jane’s favorite people in the whole world are her brother and her daddy.  She has a special kind of smile that she reserves only for her daddy.  I love watching them together.  And Carter can make her laugh like no one else.  He is such a clown for her and she loves it.

That’s all the big news I can think of right now.  I’m sure I missed a few things, but this is most of it :)

Busy month!

The month of April has been so busy for the Morris family!  It was a month full of vacations, family gatherings, and a few firsts for the kids.

First, we packed up the kids along with Ghee Ghee and went to Hilton Head Island, SC for a few days.  This was our first ever family vacation!  It was so much fun and so awesome to see Carter play on the beach and in the ocean.  This was his and Jane’s first beach/ocean experience.  While Carter loved digging in the sand and running full speed into the water, Jane was perfectly content sitting in her infant carrier and feeling the cool breeze on her face.  Jeremy put her toes in the water, which was really cold, and she loved it.  Pictures from this vacation are posted here:

After the beach trip, Jeremy and I took off to Vegas and left the kids with Ghee Ghee at our house.  She and Grammy took care of them along with Papa, Jason, Kim, and Evie.  We are so lucky to have such an awesome family to step in and take such good care of our kids (and dogs) when we’re gone.  Vegas was awesome and we had such a good, relaxing time playing the slots and enjoying some awesome food.

Now, for the firsts:

  • Carter had his first swimming lesson yesterday! Evie is in his class too, so that was awesome!   He was a little apprehensive about it at first, but eventually warmed up to the idea of being in the water.  He even went under a few times by the end of the class.  He has 2 more lessons, so hopefully he’ll continue to get more comfortable.
  • Jane has had a few new foods…bananas, sweet peas, and squash.  The first time she ate bananas was hilarious.  Apparently, they taste pretty tart to her, so she made a face as if we had given her lemons.  Too funny!  But she loves eating them!  And as far as the sweet peas and squash…she loves those too.  She is such a good eater and not at all picky…at least not yet :)
  • Carter is now using 4-6 word sentences and is saying new things every single day.  He loves repeating after us and trying to think out how to say the sentence in the correct order.

Jane continues to make progress with sitting up.  She still needs to be supported as far as balance goes, but her strength is there.  She can sit for a few seconds without toppling over to one side or the other.  No teeth for her yet…if she’s anything like Carter, she’ll need another 4 months for that first tooth to pop through.  She continues to sleep 12 hours a night (6:30-6:30) and takes two good naps during the day.  She is also VERY talkative and very loud!  She says “dada” a lot and likes to blow raspberries (especially at Carter, who does it right back to her and makes her laugh)  And I’ve decided that she must be the happiest baby in the world.  She literally smiles and laughs non-stop.  She is such a joy to be around and is constantly making me and everyone else smile and laugh along with her.

That’s all the updates I can think of for now.  I’m sure I’ve forgotten something, but like I said, its been a busy month!  Pics for the month can be seen here:

Easter fun

Today was Carter’s 2nd Easter and Jane’s first Easter.  We had so much fun visiting with family all weekend.  It started yesterday when we went over to GheeGhee and Papa’s house for an Easter egg hunt and awesome spaghetti dinner (courtesy of Mimi & Papa).  Carter & Evie LOVED searching for all the eggs and then they were treated to awesome Easter baskets from GheeGhee and Papa.  Jane loved being passed around and being held by everyone (especially Mimi! ;)

Today, we went to Grammy & Papou’s house for Easter dinner.  We had a little setback on the way there…Carter got sick all over his shirt and carseat, so we had to make a pitstop to get a new shirt and wipe down his carseat.  But when we finally got there, Carter and Jane had a blast.  The food was amazing (as always).  After dinner, we all got Easter baskets from Grammy & Papou, and then Carter headed downstairs to check out the train and drumset.  We had such a great and busy weekend.  I’m so happy and thankful to have such an awesome family…thank you to everyone for making Carter’s 2nd Easter and Jane’s 1st Easter so special :)

Mommy & Me

Carter and I had our first Mommy & Me class this morning!  We decided to do a trial class just to see if Carter would even be interested in gymnastics.  Kim & Evie attended the class too!  It started off a little rocky, with Carter having a breakdown during the circle/stretch/dance portion of the session.  But he absolutely LOVED the obstacle course, the balance beams, and the trampoline.  I think the trampoline/pit was his favorite of all.  He loved jumping and then getting “stuck” in the pit and having the coach help him out.  He kept saying “hulp, hulp”.  It was so cute :)

The class we attended is in the middle of a 10 week session, so we might have to wait until the next session starts to sign him up.  If he shows interest in going back, it’s something I’d love for him to continue doing :)

Rolling over!

I forgot to post this last week, but Jane is now rolling over both ways!  She started rolling over from her tummy to her back pretty early on, but as of March 16th, she is rolling over from her back to her tummy as well!  She is so strong.  She loves trying to stand up and she actually does stand for a few seconds while she’s in her bouncer.  She also makes the crawling motion with her legs while on her tummy, but she’s not strong enough to get her arms in position to crawl yet.  I can’t believe she’s moving around so much!  The time seems to be flying by so quickly!

Carter has been developing his vocabulary so quickly these days.  He says everything we say, so we really need to start watching what we say around him :)   He is getting to be so gentle and sweet with Jane.  He really loves her so much and he makes her laugh quite often.  It’s the sweetest thing to watch.  Also, he has a little dance he likes to do before his bath every night.  He says “happy day” over and over and hops around his room in his diaper.  It’s from his favorite show “Caillou”.  He just started doing this a few nights ago and its really cute to watch :)

Needless to say…we are in love with our kiddos :)

mmm…rice cereal

Today, Jane had her very first taste of rice cereal!  She did really well with it…spitting out the first few bites completely, but she eventually got the hang of it.  She seemed to like it, at least better than Carter did at first.  We got some great pictures of some of the faces she made while trying it…they’re posted here, along with some more recent pictures of the kids and Evie:

Family Update

Life has been pretty busy for us these days, so my updates are getting to be very few and far between.  But being busy is a good thing!  Especially when you’re busy spending quality time with two amazing kids and an awesome husband :)   So here is a massive update on the lives of the Morris family…

Jane turned 4 months old on the 10th.  She is such a great baby.  She goes to sleep smiling and wakes up smiling.  She is also really really talkative and really really loud!  It surprises me how such a loud voice is coming out of such a tiny delicate baby.  She has been such a joy and the perfect addition to our family.  Carter is smitten with her and is always giving her kisses.

Jane had her check-up at the doctor this week also.  She did great despite the appointment being in the middle of her morning nap.  She was such a trooper through her shots too.  Apparently, she has gone through quite a growth spurt between her 2 month check-up and now.  Her stats are:

Height:  25 inches (78th percentile)

Weight:  13 lbs. 2.5 oz.  (90th percentile)

She is sleeping consistently through the night (7:00 pm – 6:00 am) and has been since she was about 8 weeks old.  We are so blessed with a happy, healthy, and beautiful baby girl…we love her so much!

As for Carter…he is a talking machine these days.  He is constantly repeating (or trying to repeat) everything we say.  He’s got quite the sense of humor too.  He’s always making me laugh.  He likes to describe trucks and houses as “big truck, big house”.  So one morning when I walked into his room, he said “big mama”…I couldn’t help but laugh :)   Carter has really been enjoying weekly playdates with Evie.  They play so well together and we love it when they come over!  We are so glad they moved back from Reno :)

We are working on some potty training with Carter.  He has gone a few times and I think he’s starting to understand what he’s supposed to do on the potty, but we’re nowhere close to being consistent with it at all.

We are working on his colors…so far he knows green, white, black, and purple.  He knows all of his letters and has known them since he was about 18 months.  He is also really really good about saying please and thank you.  He says you’re welcome occasionally.

That’s all for now…I’m sure I’m leaving something out, but I’ll try and be better about the updates from here on out :)

Snow Fun

So, as I mentioned earlier today, we got some snow today!  So far, there’s 2 inches on the ground and it’s still snowing.  We all got out in the snow…even Jane!  We started building a snowman and we’re about two-thirds of the way through.  We’ll be finishing it in the morning.  Carter loved helping his daddy roll up the snow.  We had so much fun today…first the aquarium and then fun in the snow…or as Carter calls it “shnows” :)   Here are the pictures…
